Pet Form

The ownership of a household pet is a privilege, not a right and this privilege, once given, may be withdrawn by a vote of the Board of Directors. The privilege will be granted by execution of a pet agreement between the co-op and member(s).

The following rules will apply to all members who own household pets:

1. Ownership of pets is restricted to dogs and cats and permanently contained pets (goldfish, birds, etc.) Ownership of dogs is in accordance with the City of Kitchener Bylaw #530 4.1. (Maximum three per dwelling. No person shall keep or permit to be kept more than three dogs within or about any dwelling unit in the City). Residents are expected to adhere to the co-op’s bylaws, including the pet policy. (Approved by the Board on May 24 2006. Ratified by 2/3 of the membership present at the GM on June 11 2006)
2. Pet owners will be responsible for pets that create a nuisance or noise inside or outside their residence.
3. Pet owners are responsible for damages to the co-op property which are a result of actions by their pets. Damages include but are not limited to, stains and odours which are caused by their pets.
4. Pet owners must not permit their pets to have access to common areas of the co-op, either inside or outside of the buildings.
5. Subject to appeal by the Board of Directors, all pets must be spayed or neutered.
6. Complaints referring to the same infringement of these regulations on the same day
